Senior/12th Grade To-Do List
Senior Year Checklist for College-Bound Students Class of 2027
AUGUST / SEPTEMBER
☐ Finalize your academic resume for college and scholarship applications.
☐ Use a personal email address for all applications (not your DPISD email).
☐ Use DPHS College Corner and Kuder Navigator via Classlink to research careers, colleges, financial aid, and scholarships.
☐ Complete the Course Audit form in the Counseling Office for non-GPA course credit, if applicable. Ask your counselor for information. Forms will be available: Sept 22nd Due: October 7th
☐ Plan your two college visit days and notify the attendance office. Bring back an official note on letterhead from the college for Skyward documentation.
☐ Register for the ACT or SAT if needed for college admission.
☐ Create an account on ApplyTexas.org or CommonApp.org and begin applying to colleges.
☐ Complete each college’s general scholarship application and check deadlines.
☐ Apply to San Jacinto College and the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship, if interested.
☐ Explore scholarships via DPISD College Corner – new ones posted weekly.
☐ Attend College Night – November 4th, 6–8 PM @ DPHS.
OCTOBER / NOVEMBER / DECEMBER
☐ October 1st – Financial Aid Applications Open (FAFSA or TASFA).
☐ If you have a Social Security Number: Create a FAFSA login at FAFSA.gov and complete the 2026–2027 FAFSA. Your parent also needs a FAFSA account.
☐ If you do not have a Social Security Number: Complete the TASFA (State Financial Aid Application).
☐ If your college or scholarship requires it, request recommendation letters from teachers, coaches, employers). Give at least 2 weeks' notice.
☐ November 1st – Priority deadline for many college and scholarship applications.
☐ Send AP, SAT, ACT, and/or TSI scores to colleges.
☐ Request to send your high school transcript through the link on DPHS webpage.
☐ If you took college classes at San Jacinto College, request your college transcript via SOS.
☐ December 1st – Final application deadline for several four year colleges.
JANUARY / FEBRUARY
☐ January 15th – Finalize and submit FAFSA or TASFA by priority deadline.
☐ February – Final deadline to submit San Jacinto College & Promise Scholarship Application.
MARCH / APRIL
☐ Finalize college plans: Accept admission offer, sign up for new student orientation, arrange housing.
☐ Ensure college has received: FAFSA or TASFA, college readiness scores (TSI, SAT, ACT) or College Bridge certificates, and updated meningitis shot record (dated Sept. 2022 or after).
☐ April – Deadline to submit FAFSA or TASFA for San Jac PROMISE Scholarship.
☐ San Jacinto College will be @DPHS in April to help seniors register for classes.
MAY / JUNE
☐ Pass your classes and graduate on May 20, 2027!
☐ June – Deadline to register for San Jac classes using PROMISE Scholarship.
