Sheila Schatzke, Ph.D.
Campus Technology Integration Specialist (CTIS)
My Professional Background:
I started my teaching career as a fifth-grade teacher in a neighboring school district. While teaching, I quickly found my niche in Instructional Technology by utilizing available technology tools for teaching and learning. After a few years of teaching, I served as a computer lab teacher and a grant facilitator who focused on integrating technology in the classroom. I was excited to start my career with DPISD in 2007 where I served as CTIS at Deer Park Elementary. I transitioned to Deepwater Jr. High and continued as CTIS for twelve years. I currently serve at South Campus High School as CTIS since 2018.
In addition to serving as CTIS, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Clear Lake (UHCL). In that role, I work with teacher candidates in the School of Education on the implementation of technology in the classroom. I have been with UHCL since 2009.
Technology is a field that is ever-changing and advancing. Like technology, I too am ever-changing and advancing. I embrace change and believe that without change, one cannot thrive. The future is bright. I love my current role, and my goal is to continue to assist teachers, students, and administrators to promote the use of emerging technologies that complement the curriculum for both teaching and learning. I apply what I have learned on a daily basis as a practitioner in a K-12 setting and part-time in a collegiate setting. Whether I am designing curriculum, coaching teachers, leading workshops, teaching K-12 students or undergrads, each setting involves dynamic challenges. My experience in my professional and educational career has provided me with a rigorous academic education and has given me the knowledge to apply new skills while continuing to serve the greater good of education and society.
