hi this is Mrs. Rossi, and I'd like to introduce you to Beanstack the tool D.P.I.S.D. uses to enable students to easily keep track of reading.  You can access Beanstack via Classlink on your iPad or computer.  Knowles Library will offer prizes periodically to students for using Beanstack.  Some prizes will be offered for random achievements like the most minutes logged in a in a certain week or for logging for the first time.  Some larger prizes will be given for completing challenges.  You'll see the challenges listed on your Beanstack home page.  The first one begins on September 1st, so stay tuned for that to be posted.  It's simple to log reading using Beanstack. First, tap the log reading vet in the upper left-hand Corner most of the time you log minutes for challenges once you tap the log minutes button.  Then it's as simple as inputting information.  First, I need to choose the date I want to log. I'm going to go ahead and choose today's date.  Then I can either scan the barcode on the back of the book that I'm trying to log — most of the time that will automatically populate your title author for that book —or I can manually enter the title.  I'm logging the Anthropocene Reviewed; it's by John Green.  When I start to input the information, most of the time a list of the books that could be the ones you're looking for will pop up, and this one is the one I'm looking for. I'm going to tap on that, and it automatically populates the author. It also brings up the cover of the book. Now I just need to tell it how much time I have read for the day that I'm going to be logging.  So far today, I've read 45 minutes, so I'm going to type in 45m.  If I had read an hour and 15 minutes I would type in 1H15M for 1 hour 15 minutes. I haven't finished this book, yet so I'm not ready to include a review.  I'm just going to log my reading, and you can see that it's saving, and then it's verifying that it did log. Notice it's keeping track of any reading streaks; this is how many days in a row you have tracked logging.  I can also go up to the top and look at my complete reading log. Here you can see all of the days that I've tracked my reading, including my longest streak.  If I want to view all the reading that I've logged, I can tap on the all reading log link, and that pops up all of the reading that I've logged, and I can see at a glance those books that I have logged over the summer. If I want some more details about a book I read, I can just tap on a title like the wishing game, and it will show me that I've logged one session with that book, and it was on August 22nd.
